Thanks for stopping by... Im Lara, Mother of 2 little people, 2 sausage dogs, 2 (mad) springer spaniels and a flock of chickens.

My home and studio are nestled amongst the golden coconut trees, beside the Indian Ocean in Kenya.

Living in such a beautiful place, its impossible not to be a painter!  Capturing the ever changing light, movement, energy and beauty of our planet has become an addiction and im pleased to be sharing my abstract adventures with you.

My colour pallet is a reflection of how I see in the world around me and the range of materials I use, from old dhow sails to the natural pigments in sand, soil, dust and bush are part of my calling to connect people and nature in anyway I can.

With the arts deeply rooted in my families lineage, I feel compelled to share the way I see the world, through my own art. I studied art and design at Falmouth University in Cornwall before moving to Bournemouth to study arts with events management. This led me to start and run my own contemporary gallery, The Polka Dot Art Gallery in Nairobi. Working and curating exhibitions with artists from all walks of life across Africa was  a hugely inspiring, rewarding and  exciting time, but during covid I started to focus on my own work and I am now immersed in my own practise of painting and writing poetry, whilst being present during the early years of motherhood with my family.

As a family we escape into the wilderness as often as possible, being married to a herpetologist and safari guide, this makes being in the bush second nature. My aim with my work is to inspire other people to get out into wild spaces and to show the next generation what an incredible planet we have and how together we can protect it for the future.

When not in the studio I organise adventures for families and children to engage and submerge themselves in nature and Im training to become a therapist using the arts and nature to brighten and enrich the lives of those who find them selves or children a little lost or struggling in life.
